On Monday May 19th, MAHT staff and tenant leaders testified at the Boston City Council Committee On Ways And Means Hearing On Dockets #0822-0830, FY26 Budget: Mayor's Office Of Housing (MOH). The hearing started with presentations from MOH and Boston Housing Authority about what is currently happening with the city's housing budget. MAHT representatives testified to the need for more vouchers within the City Rent Subsidy Program (CRSP) to house more unhoused and low-income individuals. Domingo Cintron, tenant leader at Amy Lowell House once again spoke about his experience of being unhoused and the need to increase the budget for the CRSP to house more people. Georgetowne Homes tenant leader Elizabeth Headle spoke about volunteering at her sons school and learning of multiple unhoused familes. Our executive director Michael Kane gave more information about how the CRSP is going so far and the need to expand the program. The CRSP coalition is seeking a $4 million increase.
